dupeGuru is a genuinely good, free tool — so this isn't really a contest over which is "better." It's a question about the job you're trying to do: are you hunting down duplicate files to delete and reclaim space, or are you trying to turn a decade of scattered photos into one clean, organized library? Those are two different jobs, and each tool is built for one of them.

What they have in common

Start with the overlap, because there's real common ground:

• Both run on your own computer, offline. Neither uploads your photos to a cloud service. Your pictures stay on your machine, where they belong.

If you only need duplicates gone and you'll file everything yourself, save your money and use dupeGuru. If you want the finished, organized library without doing the work by hand, that's what you're paying for.
